Dao/Yao Wedding Headcloth
Made with loving care, this headcloth was worn by a Yao/Dao bride as the final layer on an elaborate wedding headdress. Embroidery is in silk and cotton on a background of handwoven cotton dyed with dark indigo. Silk tassels with beads and pompoms accent the corners, and tiny knots embellish the fringe. This older piece is in quite good condition. Mid-20th century. Similar cloths are also used in Guangxi Province, China.
