Lao Tai Blanket Panel
Softly faded and very mellow, this old blanket panel is skillfully woven with a complex design of alternating diamonds. Supplementary weft patterns in indigo cotton cover the natural cotton background. All threads are handspun. A 4 inch ‘abrash’ at one end indicates a change of dye lot. Probably made in the early 20thc., it is in good condition with only a 3 inch repair at one end. We don’t see many of these older blankets or panels.
