Persian Silk Rug from Qum
From the city of Qum in Iran, famed for fine carpets, this is an elegant example of a small fine silk rug. Intended for display on a wall, it was made with fringe on one end and the other with a tube for hanging on a rod. The medallion design is classic Persian, but the colors are updated with a dark dusty pink background and accents of turquoise and soft green. Woven completely of silk, it is luminous and luxuriantly soft. Condition is excellent. We estimate it to be mid-late 20th century- we purchased it in the early 1990’s in the Middle East. Note: the last four photos show the back.
