From the Hmong/Miao in Nayong, Guizhou province, these bib/aprons have an unusual shape and work that is pleasingly graphic, yet with subtle embellishment. This one has an embroidered top panel with added bands of ribbon on the sides and midsection in pleasingly harmonious colors. All stitching is by hand. There is some soil and fugitive color, but it does not detract. Also the lower edge has some tears and holes as befits its age; possibly from the mid-20th century.
