Hmong/Miao Baby Carrier Panel

This amazing confection of ribbon, rick rack, and handstitching is artful in its coloration and execution. One curious aspect is a deliberate ‘scrunching up’ of the cross-stitched borders, giving the piece lots of textural interest and dimension. The many lines of varied ribbon are separated by embroidered lines in a multitude of colors including turquoise, lilac, lime green, blue, and black. Motifs include upside down birds, stylized flowers, and spirals. Two rows of beaded fringe, one of which ends in heart beads, finish the bottom. Condition is quite good. This would be fabulous if framed in a shadow box.
