  • ‘Wayang Kulit’ Shadow Puppet from Bali

‘Wayang Kulit’ Shadow Puppet from Bali

This exceptional ‘Barong’ puppet is from Bali and is a reproduction of an old puppet. Beautifully carved and painted, it appears to have the patina of age and would fit in nicely with a collection of old puppets. This ‘Barong ket’ is a lion figure and is typical of the dance figures seen in most villages. The ‘Barong’ is a mythical beast who represents the forces of good, and usually confronts ‘Rangda’, who represents the evil of the world. This puppet is quite large and is hinged in the middle.
