Old ‘Wayang Kulit’ Shadow Puppet from Java
Elaborately detailed and quite large, this figure is a manifestion of Bima and is a fearless, heroic warrior even tho he has the features of an antagonist (large nose and eye, shoes). The clawlike, poisoned fingernail makes him invincible and is an inheirited characteristic from his grandfather, Batara Guru, the supreme diety. He wears the sacred checked sarong, or ‘kain poleng.’ This is in excellent condition and has a buffalo horn handle.
