Talismanic Figure & Small ‘Yantra’
Made of folded palm leaves, this small figure is a personal, protective talisman from northern Thailand (Lan Na). Special inscriptions have been written on the palm leaf, which was folded into the form of a person, and then tied with colored thread to shape and embellish the form.
It includes a small ‘yantra’ cloth with diagrams and additional writing. Such charms could have been carried in a pocket or bag. This is an unusual form of talisman that we’ve not seen before.
