Jewelry Box from Sumatra

Shaped like a diminutive durian fruit, this charming little container is a reproduction of the antique lacquered boxes from the town of Palembang in Sumatra. It is made in exactly the same way, with the same materials, so it looks at home in a collection of antiques or in a more modern setting. This one appears to have been used, with a small nick on the saucer, but it does not detract. We don’t find these very often.
