‘Wayang Kulit’ Puppet Set – Sumantri & Hanoman

These elegant shadow puppets from central Java are a minimalist statement in the traditional materials of buffalo hide and horn, but without color. Utilizing the same figures as those in wayang kulit performances, they are beautifully handcut by the same methods. The lack of color allows one to fully appreciate the lacy cutwork and the stylized forms of the figures. We like them illuminated from behind. 2 stands included.
