Old Bedouin ‘Tower’ Ring with Stone
This handsome old Bedouin ring was found in a souk in Saudi Arabia and is probably from Najran, near the border with Yemen. The stone is unusual with this style; it appears to be a dark green agate set in mastic resin (Frankinscense). It tests for good silver content though an exact percentage cannot be determined; the worksmanship is quite fine.
A similar ring set with coral-colored glass can be seen in Bedouin Jewelry in Saudi Arabia by Heather Colyer Ross. She says women wore such rings on both fingers and toes, as well as on turbans or as pendants – this one would make an especially attractive pendant.
