  • Old Bedouin Ring with Stone

Probably made in Yemen, this attractive ring includes granulation, gallery wire, twisted wire and filigree. The red ‘stone’ appears to be opaque glass and is decorated with granulation on top. Well made, it is in good condition and is very wearable. The silver quality is good- probably coin silver (+80%). It could be easily worn, or would make a nice addition to a collection.

  • Old Bedouin ‘Tower’ Ring with Stone

This old Bedouin ring is a handsome design and well made. It could be made of 90% silver, due to apparent oxidation. We’re not sure what kind of dark green stone is set into the top. It makes a statement and could be worn on any larger finger, or used as an unusual pendant. This is a nice example of its type and is in good condition.

  • Old Bedouin ‘Tower’ Ring

This short version of a ‘tower’ ring may have come from Yemen- it was found in a souk in Saudi Arabia over 25 years ago. The silver could be from the large Maria Theresa ‘thalers’ that were the coin of trade in the Middle East and around the world (83.3% silver). It is ornamented with twisted wire and flat disks, with a 7mm wide band. This unusual ring is a special find at a special price.

  • Bedouin Silver Bracelet

This old bracelet is another ‘souk find’ and is a much-loved design from this part of the world. It’s seen long use, as the condition attests. The ornamentation is applied: twisted wires, pieces with granulation, and flat diamond-shaped pieces, which mimic the larger incised diamond shape where the ends meet. This is probably made of coin silver, like JT203. It would be a nice addition to a Bedouin silver collection.

  • Bedouin Silver Bracelet

From the souks of Arabia, this old cuff bracelet is a classic. Ornamented with three old Saudi coins, it shows the patina and scars of age. Much of the Bedouin silver is coin silver and not of a high grade- we suspect that is the case with this piece. Overall the condition is good, tho the inside is no longer smooth due to use. This is a collector’s piece and not practical to wear.

Size: 4.25 in. across outside; 2.75 in. across inside x 1.75 in. wide

  • Silver Belt Buckle from Central Asia

This handsome silver belt buckle is attractively decorated with floral patterns which are accented with niello (an oxidation technique for silver). Three conical shapes provide distinctive ornamentation that we’ve seen before on belt buckles from the Caucasus. Six 15 kopek coins dangle by chains from the lower edge; their dates of 1915 and 1916 could give a clue to the age of this piece. Note that the piece curves: that, combined with the size suggests that it could have been made for a boy or a woman. It could be easily worn with a belt of leather or cloth attached to the rings on the back. The silver tests to between 80 and 90%. We found this in Saudi Arabia and think it could have been brought by a pilgrim coming to Mecca for the Haj. This is a handsome and very wearable piece.
