Old moulded clay tobacco pipes like this have been used for centuries in northern Thailand and Burma by the Karen, Shan and Lawa people, and are thought to be perhaps hundreds of years old. They are often found buried in the dirt when preparing fields for planting. The designs on this one are typical, with almost-Classical motifs. It has an interesting shape and would be easily gripped. This one is in good condition without any breakage and may not have been used.
