Bronze Ritual Knife from Chiang Mai
This elegant, old ritual knife was used by a high status, possibly noble, Chiang Mai family. Highly venerated, knives like this are considered imbued with magical powers and include inscriptions on each side of the blade with script (possibly in the Lan Na language) and yantra. Beautifully patinated, it comprises two solid parts: the handle is of similar design to the traditional lime containers for betel and the attached double-edged blade is very elegantly shaped. The alloy has characteristics of both brass and bronze. Condition is excellent.
Size: 14″ overall; blade 8.25″
