The
TALISMAN
COLLECTION

tal-is-man

Noun: An object thought to have magic powers and to bring good luck and ward off evil

In the past many objects were used traditionally for luck and protection:

• bells to scare demons

• amulets worn on the upper arm or as pendants (still popular today)

• special shells

• symbols of Buddha’s footprint

• precious or unusual stones

• ‘mojo’ bags full of lucky charms

• containers with special spices or oils

• ‘takrut’ (rolled sheets of metal inscribed with sacred mantras, diagrams or magical words) used as beads or amulets

• special beads (Dzi beads are one example).

In modern times anything which is considered to bring luck or protects you can be a talisman. My pieces combine traditional talismans with modern ones to form new creations full of meaning, power and style.

The
TALISMAN COLLECTION

A new direction in my work, these pieces incorporate actual talismanic objects
from a variety of cultures, people and places. Many are antique;
some are made with techniques now forgotten; all have meaning.
I hope you will find them both beautiful and effective.
